EBONYI-Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, yesterday tested negative to COVID-19 after staying about a month is isolation.
The Governor who confirmed this in a statement he personally signed on Friday disclosed that his daughter and three of his close aides also tested negative to the virus.
Umahi thanked God for his recovery and the people of the State for their prayers and support.
The confirmation is coming four weeks after they were infected by COVID-19 and subsequently went into isolation and were receiving treatment from doctors.
On July 4, Umahi announced that himself, his daughter and few aides tested positive after carrying out coronavirus the test.
He said even though they were not showing any symptom of the virus, they had to go into isolation in line with protocols laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
He directed the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, to take over the frontline coordination of the State’s fight against the pandemic to protect Ebonyi people.
Since then, the State Deputy Governor has been coordinating the affairs of the State as it concerns the fight against COVID-19.
Last Sunday after the South East Governors Forum meeting held through virtual meeting, Umahi assured journalists that he would soon make his present status known to the public.
