BENUE – Ezza Indigenes in Benue State, last weekend made a commitment to remain united in order to engender peace, development and progress of themselves and their counterparts in the State.
They stated this at Inikiri Ichari in Ulayi district of Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.
Speaking during the occasion, Sen.Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District assured Ezzas of his commitment towards their togetherness and stay as a people who are part and parcel of Benue State.
“I thank you very much for taking this struggle on your head. It’s a struggle that all of us have taken by the heads; it’s a fight that I have promised myself to fight until my last breath.
“Let me tell you to tell your people that it was not by accident that you were carved into Benue State; I used to tell Benue people that it was not by accident that you were paired with the Tiv people in Benue. Every action, especially the action on creation, God has a reason and until you fulfill that which God has designed for you, you will not rest.
“For this struggle for recognition, I ensure you, I’m going to be a worthy partner; embracing all the odds and coming here, I want to assure you that I’m with you.”
The member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadiro Federal Constituency, Dr Francis Ottah said he will assist Ezzas especially as it concerns rural electrification.
“I am very committed to repositioning them to bettering their lives. I’m very committed to deepening democracy and very committed to doing what is good and what is right for them.
“I have put in the 2021 budget, the electrification of Ezza Community; I’m going to start it from Ebi market, Offia Nka, to Ndukabi, to Nsura, to Onu Ebo, to Nwede Oga, all over; we are doing that. Neither here, I’m taking from that rounder, to Inikiri and environs.”
In their separate remarks, James Oche, Chairman Ado LGA and the President General, Ezza Ezekuna Benue State, Perpertua Nwali Okafor noted that: “The Ezzas will now know that message I brought as Chairman that Ezza has the right of every other person in Ado land is real.
“Our Challenges are too numerous to mention. We are Nigerian citizens without a state formerly but today, we have been given a state.
“We are here as Ezzas, if we cross over to Ebonyi, they will ask us “where are we from?” The Ebonyians will tell you that you are not an Ebonyian, if we shift to Benue and they ask your name, you tell them you are ‘Nwali’, they will say you are not a Benue person.
“So it has been there over a hundred years but we believe the record has been broken: the marginalization and everything, we will follow it up till the end.”
Highlight of the event was the installation of the chieftaincy title on the Senator representing Benue south; Senator Abba Moro, among other side attractions.
