Exercise to reduce 100,000 fistula cases world-wide to commence in Ebonyi
Ebonyi-Arrangements are now on top gear in Ebonyi State for the commencement of the exercise to reduce 100,000 fistula cases world wide.
The exercise, According to the State Government, will pave way for the free repair of people with fistula at no cost.
In a statement issued in Abakaliki, the Chief Press Secretary to the Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Donatus Owo explained that the exercise would be carried out by the Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Rachel Umahi in conjunction with UNFPA and National Obstetrics Fistula Center Abakaliki.
According to him: “Are you a woman experiencing uncontrolled leakage of urine? Do you know any body with fistula? Here’s good news. Her Excellency, Chief Mrs Rachel Umahi, the Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, in conjunction with UNFPA and National Obstetrics Fistula Center Abakaliki will carry out an extensive one week free repair of people with fistula from Monday 29th June 2020.
“The exercise is to reduce the 100,000 fistula cases world-wide.
“To this end, the wife of the Governor requests officers in the campaign against fistula, traditional rulers, town union presidents, health workers and interested members of the public to help mobilize people with fistula in their area for this free repair.
“Feeding and transportation fare will be provided for those being repaired. Remember that the fistula repair is free and it starts on Monday 29th June, 2020.
